Travel Guide

Things to do

Prague, the historical pearl of Europe, is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is also the political, economic and cultural centre of the Czech Republic. Famous for its monuments, architecture and romance, Prague is also a modern city full of life.

Having once been the heart of a mighty medieval empire, Prague is an open air museum best explored on foot. Countless Prague tours make a visit to the historic sites worth your while. The river is a popular way to see the city, as many of the attractions in Prague are nestled along the riverside.

Prague Castle is the premier tourist location. Set on a hill, it offers fine views over the entire city. Other attractions that also feature fantastic city views include Old Town Hall Tower, Old Town Bridge Tower, Mala Strana Bridge Tower, Klementinum, Jindrisska Tower, Petrin and Vysehrad.

Prague restaurants have a reputation for excellent cuisine in lovely settings, from candlelit cellars to exquisite rooftop eateries. Enjoy a spot of lunch in the sunshine, or taste the world famous Czech beer and watch the city light up at night in the abundance of restaurants with city views.

Travel Information

Prague is both the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic, with countless means of public transport to get you around.

By Bus

The cheapest way to get to the city centre is by bus.  Buy a ticket from a Public Transport kiosk or there are several vending machines in and around next to the bus stops to get you started.  One thing to note if you are staying outside of the city centre is that public transport buses do not enter the Historic Districts (Old Town, New Town, Lower Town etc.)  so as to prevent air and noise pollution.

Airport Express

There are airport buses that leave the airport every 30 minutes.  Tickets are available from the driver and will cost you approximately 60CZK per person (approximately €2).

Walking

Prague is renowned as a very walkable city.  Almost all of the streets are cobbled and one can easily walk from Wenceslas Square to the Old Town Square and on to Charles Bridge, although perhaps rendering it very difficult for disabled or elderly travellers to get around as effectively.

Tram and Metro

There are three metro lines and a number of tram lines within Prague to help you get around in a more effective and efficient manner.  Take a look at the schedules online to help you plan your trip.

Tickets can be bought in various places including ticket machines, tobacco shops and convenient stores, Public Transport Kiosks and all Czech railway ticket offices.  You can validate your ticket by slipping it into one of the yellow boxes in the tram or buses as soon as you board.  Be sure to keep it handy until it expires.

  7. Players must register for all events they intend to play on the MSI Software, unless for some reason it becomes unavailable.
  8. When paying for any game (s) organised by Mind Sports International with cash a receipt will be given -  this will act as your tournament ticketto be shown to a member of staff of the game being played in order to participate.
